Zerodha only keeps candles for contracts that are live today. Expired options and expired futures have no 1- or 5-minute history, so this test covers the weeks that the currently listed contracts have traded. Change the other rules in Settings.

How the strategy works (in plain words)

1. Trend (15-minute chart of the Gold Mini future, 20 SMA). A complete candle is one whose open and close are both on the same side of the 20 SMA. A complete candle above makes the trend bullish; a complete candle below makes it bearish.
In a bullish trend, 3 red candles in a row, or any red candle that closes below the 20 SMA, makes it strong bearish / weak bullish. It stays that way until a complete candle forms below the 20 SMA (then the bullish side ends and only bearish remains) or a complete candle forms above it (back to bullish). Bearish works the same, mirrored, with green candles.

2. What to sell. Bullish → sell PE. Bearish → sell CE. In the mixed phase both are watched: the strong side is tagged strong, the weak side weak.

3. Trigger (5-minute chart of the option itself). The watch list holds just one PE and one CE. Only the 5 strikes nearest the future's price are looked at (future 146000 → 135000, 140000, 145000, 150000, 155000); of those, the contract priced inside the premium band is picked; if several qualify, the one closest to the middle of the band (a contract already watched stays while it is still in the band). It is re-checked every 15 minutes, and only these contracts are scanned. A bearish crossover (candle opens above and closes below) of the 44 SMA or 200 SMA is the sell signal.

4. Entry price. If the crossover candle's High–Low is bigger than the limit (20 points), enter at the middle of the candle, (High + Low) ÷ 2. Otherwise enter at the candle's close.

5. Exit. When a later 5-minute candle closes above the crossover candle's high, or closes above the 20 SMA of the option chart, exit at that candle's close. In backtests, anything still open at the end of the day is closed at the day's last candle.
